The Beverly Hills fertility doctor who helped Nadya Suleman give birth to octuplets is asking the Los Angeles County Superior Court to protect his medical license from revocation.
In his court filing, Dr. Michael Kamrava asked that a judge strike down the order by a six-member panel of the Medical Board of California that revoked his medical license. The revocation order would take effect July 1.
"Revocation of his license would be detrimental to his ability to earn a living and be gainfully employed," the request said.
Instead, Kamrava is seeking probation, a lighter penalty that was recommended by an administrative law judge earlier this year and ultimately rejected by the panel, which approved the harsher punishment on June 1.
The panel ruled that Kamrava "did not exercise sound judgment" in July 2008 when he transferred 12 embryos to Suleman, already a single mother of six, which resulted in the octuplet birth.
