The Center for Genetics and Society works to ensure that social justice, equity, human rights, and democratic governance are front and center in public and policy debates about human genetics and assisted reproduction. We confront the ways in which misuses of genetic and reproductive technologies could both revive pernicious eugenic ideas and practices and exacerbate already dire levels of inequality.
CGS convenes and serves as a thought leader for a global network of advocates and scholars. We facilitate collaborations to center “missing" voices and perspectives grounded in disability, reproductive, gender, racial, LGBTQ, and environmental justice and Indigenous sovereignty.
Through our robust communications work, we seek to shape narratives about the social meanings of human biotechnologies and serve as a trusted resource for journalists and the public.
